It's all about the waist size. I'm at 38.25" now. If I could be this weight (210) with a 35" waist, I'd be happy. But realistically, that's not going happen.

I agree, I am much lighter than Tann, and I can do in the neighbor hood of 4 sets of 5....on a good day!

Monday

Strength still down. I've decided that I can't really afford any TUT experiments when I'm losing strength hand over fist. So I concentrated on high percentages today. Where I really notice the diet-related strength loss is in my spinal erectors - they just give up the ghost so easily.

Anyway:

Deadlifts

OK, but struggling for the groove and spinal erectors gassed in the first set.

215 (474) X 3
220 (485) X 2

222.5 (491) X 2

Front squats

A bit happier with this then in the last session, but still a long way off. Just wanted to build confidence today.

Belt on

Scooby Doo's Mystery Sled Machine

Fantastic! I thought this was a great peice of kit, though it has to be said there's not much space to get more weight on the pins.

Set one: 50 (110) per leg
Set two: 75 (165) per leg
Set three: 90 (200) per leg
Set four: 115 (265) per leg

I think those poundages are right, it's all a bit of a blur.

And the "Mystery Machine" reference made me laugh!

Nice job on the weight loss. Humbles me that you're only a couple pounds heavier than me right now, but twice as strong (or did you mean you're 210 Kg? That's a lot of pullups for a 462lb man if so! ).

Seriously, still looking pretty strong. Nearly 500 for a double, and fronties over 3pps is a good day's work for anyone any time.

Looking Strong Tann.

Notice the strong Front Squats and Deads, there's a tip for someone wanting to add lbs to their Pulls.

Spinal erectors; hmm Maybe a couple feeder sets spaced throughout the week? Using a reverse hyper. Don't take it anywhere near failure just pump protein rich blood in the region for a couple sets.

Wednesday

Not a bad session. I'm trying to find a hybrid routine between retaining power and retaining or building muscle. So I'm trying out all sorts of things at present. I seemed to have a lot of separation in my thighs and calves today, even though I've still got squidgy fat round my waist. Nevertheless, I achieved the elusive 6th hole on the belt, which makes me look like Marie Antoinette.

Overhead press

Not bad, not bad. Overhead press is one of those weird exercises that feels like you won't be able to do one rep with the weight selected, and it's always a bit of a surprise when the weight starts moving.

Cybex shoulder press

Here the idea was to get continuous time under tension, and get this over 40 seconds. Each time I thought I'd done that, I glanced up at the clock to find the set had lasted 25 seconds

Medium-wide grip chins

Pleased with these. All from dead hang

Cybex chest-supported row

Again, looking for 40s continuous tension. Again, thought I'd got at least that. Again, checked with clock to find that I'd barely got to 30s.

about 70 (154) x 12 ish.

Cybex chest press

What's all this machine stuff? Well, it's so much easier to do partial movements, or take mini breaks within sets when you're training on your own. Again, going for 40 s tension (achieved 25 seconds - and that with muscles screaming for mercy)

I can't remember weight X I need to start taking a diary reps.

Db flyes

24kg (52) X 6 ish continuous tension. Two sets.

I was pumped up lie a balloon when I came out.
