beans on toast? try having some eggs and some kind of carb...if your trying to gain weight. i have 16oz egg whites with two piece of Ezekiel bread with pb on it. Eggs are cheap you can u can just have a few whole eggs and some toast. fats and fiber/carbs make your meal "slower digesting". personally i eat before bed no matter what I'm doing, dieting or bulking. You have to think you are fasting for 6 to 8 hrs thats like your missing 2 to 3 meals

i like that post by brad, i often have eggs on toast as a late meal normally 4 poached whole eggs on two slices of wholemeal bread.

linden if you cant afford whey powder you could try mixing milk powder with whole milk, i do this alot.

If you need ideas on cheap protein sources, check this out. It may be a little different in your area, but hopefully this can still help

ya i personally just like the taste of Ezekiel bread, but it is a bit pricey. Ya since i do the whites ill use the pb for my fats. but i feel that eggs are the best source of protein in the morn and before bed. People depend on shakes way too much. Ya if you are like running late and don't have time to make a meal then a shake is better than nothing or a shake immediately post workout then a meal like thirty mins later is fine but there are people that take three or four shakes daily. The best way to get your protein and macros are from whole food and meals that you cook.

same here, i will always try to eat eggs in the morning, always whole eggs normally with toasted whole meal bread but if a dont have time i will have a shake, but sometimes i get so board of eating eggs i just mix some whey in into oatmeal for breakfeast, but i will say my main protein sources are eggs and milk then meat, my eating isint perfect but iam trying to do the best i can with the money i have.

Eat when you are hungry. I have eaten many times before bed if I am hungry. And I know a few guys who are really into lifting that will set the alarm to get up to eat, course they do many competitions and all and lifting really is their whole life.

I've had very late night meals, on the occasion, after a day of not eating much due to a bad head preventing me from keeping a meal down but it's not uncommon for me to down a huge plate of chips (fries), 2 fried eggs, 2 large cheese toasties and then go to bed 30 minutes later.
