Grains and legumes contain lectin, a glycoprotein substance able to bind with the gut wall and alter its permeability to enter the bloodstream. Lectins found in peanuts may, therefore, be associated with gastrointestinal problems such as Crohn's disease, celiac disease, colitis and irritable bowel syndrome, as well as allergies and autoimmune diseases.
Soy aside, you realise I am the perfect subject to test this concept?
If you're game enough to read my log for updates, I can pretty accurately ascertain if removing peanuts from my regular diet has any impact on my digestive functions.
I eat a pretty rigid diet in the day time.

Well I'm not sure you will see a substantial and immediately short term impact on your digestion, but I would certainly be curious to see it you notice any differences.

I'm now removing peanut butter completely from my diet lol. I've actually been a member of a low carb forum before and people did note that peanut butter caused stalls

Nice man. I'm no expert, but from all that I've read legumes are not the best thing for humans to eat. There is a video in the low carb thread that talks more about the ills of legumes.

Not hijack the discussion, but what the deal with grains? I mean if I were to partake in paleo, how adverse would eatting say oats or rice (food staples for me because of price) be on that ideology; and what could I eat in there place (are sweet potatoes acceptable)? I ask mainly because If I could find some sort of carbohydrate to eat (apples are to voluminious and bananas hurt my digestive track when I exceed 3 in a short period of time) I could modify my diet to fit, but as it stands I can't find a adequate substitute. (I could also start a general paleo thread if that would be better)

Good to hear. Like I mentioned to Abs, I'm no expert but from all indications legumes and peanut butter are not great for health in general...as we eat them.

I've been as guilty as anyone for recommending PB on bulks. To be honest, part of it was because I didn't want to take heat for recommending fatty foods and butter on other forums where this opinion would get attacked.

I've made advice mistakes. Nutrition is a weak area of mine, but I am trying to learn
