Default Cold Season is here

Cold season is here. I want to know if any of you believe in vicks. I have heard that if you rub your feet in with it at night in the morning you will feel lots better. Is this true?

A friend told me to do it. I am developing a cold right now and he said that it will help make me feel better in the morning. Sort of like when you put it on your chest, it does the same thing.

No. It will not do the same thing. Vicks vapo-rub works by steadily releasing menthol fumes all night. That allowa your sinuses to stay a bit more clear. Putting it on your feet wil only make them feel colder. But it won't actually raise or lower your temperature, no matter where you put it.

Growing up we always put it on our chest or throats and covered them with a shirt or a bandana. But I have heard the feet thing. A friend of mine does this. I also found this online.
Vicks Vapor Rub on Feet Relieves Coughing - Urban Legends

They say that it really does help with coughing at night.

I had a friend whose mother said her mom used to make her eat a small amount of it when she was sick. Sounds really gross to me. I doubt that this worked, eating it. Does not even sound healthy.

Maybe they're trying to tell you that you have foot odour?! Seriously though, no!

I hate vicks. Makes me feel like I stink and I just do not like the feel of it. I have not used it since I was a child.

Eating vicks does not sound like a good idea. That is sort of gross. And you would not think it would be healthy.
I have heard of putting it on your feet. Never tried it but maybe I will next time I am sick.
