Default High-protein diet as bad as smoking

No the studies they completed were flawed in multiple ways. There was no physical activity, and it was focused on adults age 50+.

The study also mentioned that a high protein diet for those 65+ is more protective than harmful, so the age range is 50-65 where the "danger" is.

That's interesting in itself, considering the fact that the more we age the more we're considered to be susceptible to illness and the body is considered to be more frail in terms of bones and organs etc.

Im willing to bet this study was commissioned by a fat bloke trying to make himself feel better by bringing down the meatheads. How can you squat and deadlift hundreds of pounds for reps every week and eat too much protein?

This wasn't a study from what I understand. It was population observation. Also, it doesn't take into account a lot of other things. People who eat a lot of meat tend to do the following:
1. Eat a fair bit of char grilled meat. This is known to increase cancer risk
2. Eat richer food in general. Junk carbs and fats are equally unhealthy
3. Ignores the low cancer rates of the eskimos who live off meat and fat.
