If you are gaining strength and "slowly" gaining weight then you are fine. Those who pig out are the ones who will be cutting 6 months from now and undereating/losing gains at the time. 2 lbs a month is good. Can you gain lean weight faster as a total beginner? Maybe, maybe not but you're better off doing it slowly rather than getting in the habit of overeating.
