I actually use the TB for all of my deficit deads, block pulls and conventional deads. I find it easier on my lower back. I also use it for high rep shrugs, RDLs and Farmers Carry. I have used it for OH Press just to see how it would feel. After a while I started having discomfort in my shoulder.
So to answer your question, I don't see why you couldn't use it for hypertrophy.
