Oly shoes really help when you get below parallel in the squat. They do so because they lean your foot forward slightly so you don't need as much ankle flexibility to keep your foot flat.

If you are looking to squat deeper than Atlantis, low bar is not the way to go. If you're squatting for powerlfiting and just breaking parallel, I would go with it.
