Ignore that. Do the workout that appeals to you. Optimal might mean a 1% boost, and over the course of 3-5 years it won't matter. Trust me, 98% of the natural success stories I do weren't using full body workouts.

At 45, the extra rest for the joints isn't a bad thing either.

I made all my gains on splits. Didn't switch over until 2008. That was after 21 years.

Optimal rarely means a big difference, especially if someone is consistent.
