I use power cleans as light warmups for deadlifts (I do them just before DLs), and I find this works pretty well, so yeah, I could see SLDL working the same kind of way.

Just my 2c. As for 5x5 squats over and over again? Nope, not for me! But if it's still producing results, well, why not stick with it.
