Most of best single ply guys I know (eg Dean Bowring, Rob Palmer) the majoirty of their training across the year without gear or at least reduced gear,
That's the idea. Going to build up raw and using things like knee wraps and slingshot sparingly, then stick on the gear a month or so out to make sure I'm grooved.
