You do the deadlift with a double overhand grip or a hook grip? Some people call it a D.O. grip, when it's actually a hook grip because their thumb is under their fingers, not over them.

B. Gillingham pulls with a hook grip, not regular double overhand. This makes the grip stronger, as long as you can bear the thumb pain.
