I have heard good things about hip thrusts. Zercher squats also seem to hit the hip area pretty hard.

if you want to use deads, squats, and etc for your main but exercise: I would suggest performing a few sets of bench hip thrusts in order to activate the glute muscles. A lot of people have unactivate glutes so it's always good to wake them up before you head over to the main compound lift. just my 2 cents
