Seeking advice vs. Validation
Some general thoughts on seeking advice.
One thing I've noticed over the years in the lifting industry is that a good portion of inexperienced lifters who are asking questions don't want the answers, they simply seek validation to do what they have already decided to do.
Here's a word of advice...open your mind and be willing to learn something before you approach a more experienced lifter with your question. And if you simply seek validation, you must be willing to rethink your dogma if the answer doesn't go your way.
This doesn't mean you have to rush out and change everything you're doing, but it does involve an honest assessment of your training in light of the advice.
Although still a beginner, I get a LOT of young guys in my neighborhood wanting to workout at Not Your Average Moes Gym, they all ask my advice, or my thoughts on what they are doing...but dont want to hear anthing but how great their routine, form, exercise selection, etc. is....and even after explaining WHY they need a LITTLE tweak here and there...still keep everything the same.....
