Try palms toward feet next time instead of palms toward each other, see how that works. That will also hit the rear head a lot more also..
They work better for me because of the elbow rotation also.

to target your rear delts you dont need to bring the weight all the way up.
can try "hang and swings" This is Meadows doing his "destroyer set" using hang and swing style rear delt movements.

I wonder if I could do face pulls from that position and use swings as a finisher...

actually on backday. you could lay on the inlcine bench again and do DB rows, but keep your elbows really high and hit a 1 count hold then after the negative, relax and let the weight hang to stretch you out. Will work the rhomboids, the rear delts, and mid traps directly.
