Marvin Eder was born in 1932 or 1933. 20 years later he was pound for pound one of the strongest men in the world.
Now, this was the time before steroids. Eder did train at the York Barbell Club, which later would be the "host" of dianabol experiments. But dianabol wasn't released earlier than 54 or 56, and the following article is from 1953: Now, you just read those articles, sit back, and just think about what he did - naturally, without steroids: At a bodyweight of 190-200 pounds he performed: - Olympic press - 335 lbs. - Press behind neck - 305 lbs. - Side press, left hand - 220 lbs. - Press up on parallel bars with 434 lbs + 198 lbs body weight - Bench press - 515 lbs. (the 3. american to BP 500) - Still arm pullovers - 250 lbs. - 80 "wide arm" chins - 8 reps with 200 lbs. - Strict curled 210 lbs - Deadlift, without practice 665 lbs - Crucifix with 2 X 100 lbs dumbbells - Lateral raises 120 lbs dumbbells for reps - 8 sets of 10 reps with 220 lbs + body weight dips Bodyweight 203 - Height 5 ft 8 ins - Waist 34 Chest close to 50 expanded - Neck 19 ins, Biceps over 19 ins. , Forearms 15 ins, Thighs 26, Calves 17 ins. Marvin Eder Workout
Day One: Overhead Press Dips Squats Snatches Abs Day Two: Bench Press Chins Deadlifts Calf Raises Notes: Train consistently and use whatever set and rep scheme you feel comfortable with. It could be one or two sets to failure, 5 x 5, singles, doubles, triples - anything you want, so long as you're consistent and work hard. Add weight to the bar whenever possible and get lots of rest, eat good food and drink plenty of water.

Been there myself. 16 inch arms look darn impressive...much more so then the average trainee believes.
