Pullup total tips
These are called latter reps. I discovered them a few years ago from a buddy on another forum that had massive pullup total. It wasn't nothing to see him to 3 sets of 20 pullups and then move onto another exercise. The guy had a massive upper back and massive biceps.
At the time I could only do 3-4 pullups and he gave me some advice, and I'm not sure if anyone has used these before but here is the technique. Lets say for example you can do 3 straight pullups, your objective would be to do this. 3 pullups - rest for 30 seconds 2 pullups - rest about 20 seconds. 1 pullup - rest 10 seconds 1 pullup - rest about 10 seconds. 2 pullups - rest about 20 seconds. 3 pullups - then you are finished Even though you could only complete 3 pullups straight, you have officially performed a total of 12 pullups in this session. Each week, start with another rep, and continue. Your pullups will explode in no time! |
I will try this. I currently do 12 chinups for time (easier as you know!), then lat pulls for reps.
But I would love to be able to do 12 pullups. Am going to try this. |
Yeah, I do both chinups and pullups. Just alternate between the days.
12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.... that is a total of 78 pullups if you can finish the entire backwards count! If you can go backwards, then forwards again it would be 156 total pullups. Good luck, let me know how many you end up completing! |

i like to aim for a total number of reps and then do as many sets as i need to do to get there , but i like this idea also. |

This is how I also how I will start my pullups. Right now I think I can do 3 straight pullups, so I'll use this logic when I start again too. I'm glad some of you guys got good use out of it.

Thats a pretty good idea might try that some day.
The way I got mine up was starting with 1 pullup and adding a rep everyday until I got to around 30ish reps. That was also 40 pounds lighter and back when bodyweight type lifting was pretty much it for me. |

Height: 6'1 Weight: 204 (a little over what I actually am had a cheat meal the day before) Bench: 300 Squat: 405ish deads: unsure but 495x3 and thanks a lot OR! Also in the Pic I'm about 190ish |
