it was the IDFPA 2012 Single Lifts entered all three events weighed in at 96.4kgs so well under for the 100kg class bit of a mixed day. Squat did the following 140kg - good 155kg - good 165kg - fail disappointed i didnt get the 165kg , had done 160kg before as in my log , in hindsight should have lifted the 160kg for my third attempt Bench did the following 120kg - good 130kg - fail , moved my head on the bench 132.5kg - fail what should have been my best event ended up my worst, the head movement really played on my mind going into the third lift and was concentrating so much on that i forgot about the rest of the lift. should have really got it out. Deadlift did the following 160kg - good 175kg - good 190kg - good , new PR really happy with the PR , i knew oing in this was my weakest event so not too worried that i was a good bit behind the standard. total was 465kg - lots of room to improve have to say i really enjoyed the day. learned a huge amount and thats the main thing. two big highlights for me was watching a 320kg deadlift from a guy in the 110kg class and a 15/16 yr old guy in the 65kg class squat double bodyweight. Nice lifts markievicz. Great deadlift PR, shame about the bench but still a strong total for the first meet!

Well done again Al!
You were unlucky with the head movement on the bench, I could see that it was playing in your mind for the final lift. You'll blast through it at the next event! Your deadlift will certainly be higher at the next event. You made the 190kg look easy! Bring on Killarney =)

Great job on your first meet.
So, the head movement came as you were lowering the wt??? I plan to compete for the first time this year. Looking back, what would you do differently, what did you do right? Thanks for the info. |
