Nice work JT. The first competition is always quite an experience. Congrats on competing and doing well! Do you think you'll compete again soon?

Thanks BtB .
I nearly went through the same thing at my first meet. There was a misload but I was lucky enough to catch it. We also had over-zealous spotters. I had to tell them not to come close to me. They tipped one guy sideways where he was trying to rack and he tweaked something.

Thanks LtL and Brute. The next opportunity to compete is the Nationals in April but I think I'm going to hold off until next year for them. 2013 will be the last year I'll be able to compete at National level as a Junior and I really want to put a competitive total up and also need the money to get there. So I will compete at any regional meets definitely but they seem few and far between. My main focus right now is to get as much as possible from my training over the next 12 months.

I'll be checking everything from now on, I didn't want to get back under that bar after the miss, that's the first squat I can remember that I've ever missed and it knocked my confidence for 6! Maths aside, the spotters did a good job through the day and made some good saves.

Excellent job JT!! You hit some PB's so I don't think you can ask for a more successful first meet.

Ye I think there were 4/5 other first time lifters but I didn't get chance to speak with them as they were in the other flight and were gone once my flights last deads were done. There were some big raw lifters in my flight though and it was really good to speak to them, looking forward to competing again.

Great work mate, and respect for having the intestinal fortitude to step up and test yourself in competition.

My mate and I are considering a first meet in about a years time - that seems like the association we'll be going with. What was the atmosphere like at the meet? Do people lift and leave or are there a few beers afterwards?

as i said in your log , great first meet .

th emisload wasnt your fault so u cant hold that against yourself.
it seems like you learned tonnes about competition day , well done .

awesome that you qualified for the nationals - thats serious going for a first time.

you said you are gonna wait for next years nationals , rather than compete this year.

so what is the plan for the next 12 months ? go up to 100kgs ? or stay at 90kg ?
