Default Coan/Phillipi 10 week Deadlift Routine

Any of you guys ever ran it? I have a friend who is doing it now and loves it. Making some really good gains for him. I looked at it under the tools section, and its really pretty simple. May give it a go for a few weeks after this meet. What do you guys think?

Here's the calculator for anyone curious:

Tsampa.org: Coan-Phillipi 10 Week Deadlift Routine

I like the look of it but have never run the percentages. Power shrugs, rows and explosive movements are the cornerstones of my deadlift approach and it seems to be working well.

It would be a big change for me as I deadlift ever few weeks, and focus more on the squat.

It is a deceivingly tough program.

The speed work is pretty aggressive and is a form of volume pulling in itself.

I tried it back in around 2002. I got burnt out by around week 5, couldn't keep up with the poundage increases. I've had similar issues with most of these types of very rigidly prescribed cycles.

If I were to do it again:

1) Perform a deload every 3rd or 4th week.
2) If I miss the weeks set/reps then to STAY with those sets/reps for another week or two untill I get them and THEN to move up.
3) Use briefs/wraps etc to keep the joints from getting beat up.

I may play with some form of it over the next few months. Going to look bad if I out bench my dead by 100lbs lol.

My only advice would be to start with a more Westside-style speed approach and build up.

If I ran that program week 2 speed work would be:

--425 x 8 x 3 with 90 seconds rest.

...that's a killer.

I have ran it and its tough as hell. All the percentages are based off your perceived max, not your current one. On week 4 and 8 you are supposed to pull 90-95%for a double. This is where i failed.
