Bench Only Competition
Hey guys/girls, I was wondering if I could get some insight on this topic. I'm getting ready for a meet coming up in novemebr and I'm kinda leaning toward entering bench only/single ply cause I really feel I have a chance at placing high. Only problem is I don't know if I should continue training the way I am with all three lifts or just focus on the bench??????

Have a look at Vinny Dizenzo's log on EliteFTS. He is top bench only guy and squats and pulls to some extent just not as heavy.

I am considering leaning more towards deadlift-only meets myself. When I look at training with a single lift focus, my main goal is to put in work on the other lifts. I am going to try and avoid a lot of low rep, super heavy bench and squat work and train the lifts more in the 70-75% range.

Train the way you typically train, but lower the volume on the other lifts some. Unless its a national type meet, I wouldn't worry to much about where you place. Go there with the goal to improve. In most cases there are only a few people in every class.

Basically what LTL, BTB, and JBizzle aka J_Byrd said, I only compete push/pull but I train all three lifts. Just a bit more emphasis on bench/dead. Above all have fun and remember you are only competing against you!

Thanks for the input so far fellas. Putting more emphasis on the bench and just lowering the intensity and volume on the other two sounds like a winner. This will be my third meet but my first ever in gear. I looked at the SPF single ply bench only records and I think I have a shot in the near future, maybe this meet lol. But with it being my first in gear maybe I should just focus on the fun factor and look at how to improve from there. Once again thanks fellas. And by all means anymore info/ guidence will be much appricated.
