Default UPA 2011 Iron Battle on the Mississippi
Here are a few photos from our team ANVIL members who competed this past weekend, July 15th and 16th in Dubuque, Iowa at the UPA Iron Battle on the Mississippi. I was far from ready to compete but we did have 6 people from the gym compete. For 5 of them, it was their first experience competing in powerlifting. Three of which were ladies. Of those lifters we had one 17 year old highschool student, Zach, who entered the deadlift only competition. He deadlifted 308 pounds at 133 pounds body weight. Pretty damn good! Don't have pictures of everyone yet but here are a few for starters.

Depending on recovery, I want to do the UPA meet in November. I hear there will be a strongman the same time, so I might do something stupid like do a strongman and powerlifting contest at the same time.

I plan to do the November meet as well. I am from Cedar Rapids. That is where our gym is located as well as most of our competitors.

Do you guys train in the evening? I work in CR from time to time and I would love to stop in and train.

Carp does run great meets. I love the stage and lighting. I really dont care for the monolift, but if i had more work out of one i would like it better.
