Default Building a monolift

We are currently building a make shift monolift for the gym. I took this idea from Joey Smith (he has a world class multiply bench, and raw total). I had a 2 inch metal beam placed at the top of a normal squat rack. From it I will hang two tow straps, then add links till I have the right length. Then attach large J Hooks to hold the bar. Just throwing that out there for anyone interested. Now I can do reverse bands in the squat, and not have to worry about walking out squats.

At this point all I have is the metal cross bar. I can link the video where Joey Smith shows you how to set it up. Its about 4 minutes in. When I finish mine, I will post the pictures. Should be sometime next week. I think this will allow me to take my squat into the 900s in single ply.

Not sure if that link will work...I had to forward it from another account. All kinds of things are blocked by my server!

I've seen that vid': it's a good explanation.

As for your squat: 900 single ply is utterly ridiculous.

I am going to do mine just a little different, but not much.

The plan is to squat 900 this year. I am not coaching football this year, so that means I will TRAIN year round for the first time ever! Normally during football season I just do some raw stuff playing around. Cant wait to see where I can take this!

I've seen something similar before, but it's definitely way cool to see someone else doing it

I have the cross beam installed, and set up one side last night. I did not like the feel with the tow straps, just felt like too much stuff there. Going to go with just a chain set up instead.

set up as follows
2 inch sold steel- bolted to frame of squat rack. Has a inch over hang for doing reverse bands.

5,400lbs test J hooks with approx 8lbs of chain.

This was actually really simple!

^ By the way, 500 shouldn't look that easy. You're embarrassing us.

Nice work.

Thats Joey Smith...not me. He is a hell of a lot stronger than me! Great guy to. I ask him training questions all the time.
