Im with you btb, Ive been reevaluating my deadlift form and goals over the past weeks and im kind of obsessed too =)

Im adding alot of ab and other core work, also GHR's and more hamstring work, and less pulls from the ground. All with the purpose of upping my dl #'s.

Its definitely doable for you man. One of my old training crew pulled 660 at 198 clean and raw. Hes 52 so its a definite realistic goal for you.
