Which is your favorite? Which variations do you use? Such as stance Deadlift? Do you sumo,SLDL, Arms outside legs, arms inside Squat? closer or wider stance, 1/2,1/4, ATG Which is the favorite and what variations do you use?

I like deads and I'm much stronger in sumo.. Squats also stronger with a wider stance.
Been doin my squats these days with a more narrow stance and it sucks to see the numbers go down, but definitely seeing a much better quad development. |

While there is an area of overlap between the two, they have individual benefits that the other does not cover.
If you were to do nothing but work squats and deadlifts, you would build quite a lot of muscle on your entire frame. |

I do have a bad back and I currently have to do lower weight, higher repetition squats - feet shoulder width at least parallel or a little lower.
So I guess I focus more on dead lifts, using sumo stance. Takes more stress off the lower back. Assuming good set up.

For squats I have been going full ATG. While I have to lower my weights to do this, I find they are a better move this way. The carryover to the rest of my frame is more noticeable going ATG.
For deads I like a very conventional straight forward approch. Hands just a little wider than shoulder width. |

There is no exercise more alpha than front squats.
