Default High Schooler Bench Presses 700 Pounds

http://mashable.com/2013/03/27/high-...r-bench-press/

According to the YouTube video above and news reports from earlier this week, you're looking at Matt Poursoltani, a senior at Pilot Point High in Texas. He's a high school football player and just set a new Texas state weightlifting record by bench pressing a jaw-dropping 700 pounds.

Video of Poursoltani's feat has become a hit with sports fans online, and for good reason — it's reportedly just five pounds less than the NFL bench press record.

Pretty funny story though. The 705 NFL bench record is raw. Although this kid is STRONG, he's got a bench shirt on.

His form, however, is dead on, and he throws it up like a feather. Every single comment from the story is either burning him at the stake for using steriods or trying to let everyone know that benching in a shirt isn't quite the same as benching raw.

the 700lb bench was by Larry Allen. I am a huge Larry Allen fan, but lets be real. He didnt bench 700lbs raw. He took it out the rack, dropped it on his chest, while another guy helped him by rowing lol. Larry was a legit 600+ bencher, but 700 NO!

As for the kid goes, he is coached by Mike Womack and Henry Thomason. Damn strong kid!

I've GOTTA get up to Dallas and try to hook up with that crew after I spend a few more years trying to not be so weak, lol.

Very strong kid, shirt or no shirt.
High school powerlifting is a big deal in Texas. It started out as a stepping stone to get the kids strong for football, but it's taken on a life of it's own.
The girls are loving it too.

If you can wear a shirt in competition, it's completely legit. Regardless, it's one hell of a bench
