I choose my exercises this way, and I had to put away some exercises that I liked a bit. And sometimes I don't do some exercises or exercise a particular bodypart, because I feel I don't need to, like calves for example. I'm against the use of Smith machine, either for Squats or other movements. And some other machines too. I'm mostly lean-to free weights. Last edited by BRaWNy; 11-24-2009 at 04:13 AM. |

BBG made the point that he's never received any benefit from machines. I have mental issues with machines as well. They don't feel the same, so I've generally always avoided them. BBG also mentioned lateral raises. I believe them to be one of the most over-rated exercises in the iron game. And Brawny talk about effectiveness and exercise selection. That's how I generally plan my workouts. I use the most effective. Sometimes I'll try a different exercise as an experiment, but I rarely keep an exercise that doesn't feel effective.
