Critique my box squat
I tried doing box squats for the first time ever today.
Here's the video. Please critique my form or anything that you see wrong. Noticed that this is a hard exercise. My question is: do I need to pause for 1 second at the bottom and not tense anymore or should I stay tensed the whole time? Thank you! |
Try to ease on the box, because what your doing by sitting on the box like that compresses the spin

You're folding forward quite a bit. This could be coming from an over-focus on sitting back.
Concentrate on staying a bit more upright. |

I don't have a particular reason, but considering that my normal squat isn't perfect I read that many swear by the box squat to improve squat form and explosiveness.

knees must be over hills (straight line). just go a little more back, stop all the momentum and start from "0". Back must be tight all the time. Ck Louie Simmons Box Squat Videos from the West Side Barbell Crew. They are the best...

I know, just wanted to try it and see how it feels. Much more harder than the normal squat. While I can do 5+ reps with 80kg, I can only do 2 reps on the box.
Will stay with the normal squat. Cheers for the help all! |
