That last guy has to be the strongest pirate in history! I swear I could hear a "y'ar matey!" during that second lift!

That's awesome Mike!

I think it depends on the goal. If the goal is strength in every muscle or muscle balance or whatever, then work on whatever you think you need to work on. If the goal is a big squat, then work on that. It's like saying I'm a good pitcher from 66 feet, but outside that, I'm weak. Well who cares because the mound is 66 feet? Squats are a powerlift because they test your overall strength. Hamstring curl numbers do not count.

That said, I think this imbalances thing might be a little overblown. I used to think I was quad dominant because I always pulled hamstrings and my legs looked big from the front. Well now, I'm thinking that was ass backwards for a variety of reasons.

wendler has a saying, unless you're quads hang over your thighs like an elephants trunk, you're not quad dominant.

I use closer stance, and so do the Lilliebridges. You have to go with what works. I am a high bar, break at the knees, close stance, don't worry about the hips going back squatter.

And you know what? It feels natural and strong.

Rule #1. Keep it simple and natural as possible.
