Default Hand texture

By the nature if my job, I have rough calloused hands. Weight training is making me even more calloused, and thats fine. I've heard some people say leaving them rough and calloused gives you better grip, but others say moisturizing them and keeping them soft is better for grip. Which one is better? I have a jar of working hands I started using again, just wondering which is better.

I find that if you let them build up too much they're more likely to get ripped off and that can put you out for a week or so. I prefer to grind them down and moisturise.

This is a good video on how to keep on top of them and what to do if you rip one in the gym.

Moisturise if you have excessive build up, there's nothing manly about constantly ripping off bits of your hand. It'll halt your training.

Is have pretty calloused hands. I'll cut the callouses when they get too big, but I'm bad about moisturizing them. Thanks for the advise.

I'm hoping that's a turn of phrase and not a literal "cut"; better to file them down smooth.

Pretty sure I recall placing an article up about how to soak them then rub/scrape away the dead skin (with a blunt knife)which shows as white skin after it's soaked; yep, I did but it seems macho cutting is the order of the day, so... enjoy...

I cut mine off. Up until recently i used a razor blade :-0 and sliced them right off but that was dangerous and i had a couple times i got too deep. Now i have a pair of nail clippers with an outward curve. I use them to clip off the big stuff and file down to smooth with a pumice stone. Works perfect and i dont rip them off anymore...

I use a small belt sander on mine. Its not as brutal as it sounds and takes much less time than filing or using a razor blade.
