Default Congrats to MAB54 & Mike

MAB54

mab 5/3/1 powerlifting

Quote:
Squats
405x1
435x0
435x0

Notes: Chest collasped on both reps, no idea what happened just wasn't feeling good. The warmup room was down 4 floors that had to be walked which isn't that hard but when you're going for a max weight takes some out of you. Everyone was missing squats that day, 6 out of 12 missed 2nd attempts.

Bench Press
315x1
330x1 10lbs PR
347.5x0

Was feeling really good with these, just had some form breakdown on the last attempt due to a lower back spasm and missed. I feel like I was strong enough to do it but just had some bad luck today.

Deadlift
535x1
550x1
601x1 50lbs meet PR

I was just angry by this point the way the meet was going. The 601 just went up out of pure anger for how bad I had been doing.

I'll have videos up either tonight or tomorrow.

I got to meet Mike which was really cool and we had a really good time doing the meet together. I would love to compete with him again sometime.

BtB called it exactly. I made progress on all my meet lifts, raised my total 55 lbs, did win my age and weight division and got a plaque (wasn't that many masters I raw lifters, so while I'm proud of this, it's not as great of an accomplishment as it sounds).

On the flip side, I missed all three third attempts and I am flat out emabarrassed by my third squat attempt. I honestly don't know what happened. I just lost my mind, dropped like a stone, lost my air and had no chance after all that idiocy.

Similar thing happened on bench third. Just lost tightness and got no pop off my chest.

Third deadlift was a bit frustrating as I was crushed my first two, went conservative on the third, but still missed it.

mab has videos and will post them, or send them to me and I'll post them so you can all see how I did. I honestly am not sure why I fell apart on all three thirds. I felt great, no problems whatsoever. Just didn't get the money lifts.

Still, there you go. Progress is progress and as always I learned a lot and know some things I need to work on.

Results:
Squat
Made 135 (297) and 145 (319, meet PR)
Missed 155 (341)

Bench
Made 107.5 (237) and 115 (253, meet PR)
Missed 125 (275)

Deadlift
Made 147.5 (325) and 160 (352, meet PR))
Missed 170 (374)

I will say it was a bit of a weird meet in that there were a lot of misses by everybody. It seemed like very few people had a good day. Not to make excuses, but there was a lot of little things that kept cropping up to mess with your mind and sort of prevented getting into a rythm or feeling comfortable and properly ready. However, that's why meets are a hell of a lot different than lifting in your garage!

It was great to meet mab and see him lift! Man, he is ridiculous strong. I'll let him describe his own day, but I will say his last lift was spectacular!

I want to thank all of you for your help and support! I couldn't have made the progress I am making without it. I'm already looking forward to fixing some things and moving onward to an even bigger total next year.
