The way I look at it. If the APP is so bad. Why not go out and make a better one himself. I love the app. I just have the Free ones. But I use them everyday in the Gym to figure % and 1RM's. It also logs your last Set and Reps and even Chart it for ya.
I the JW is going over board. I understand he came up with it in a way. But Lifting off % has been around for years. Just like DC and FST-7.. All those are, are tweaked workouts of the past. Just rearrange Lifts, add a % or Giant Set (FST-) or Rest/Pause (DC).. Then through in your special extra's. Stretches, 12 Rep Range, deload etc.... Nothing has really been reinvented here. Just a different twist on it. Let the guy Keep his app, but just let him offer a Free version and the Paid one JW get a 50% of the sales... Call it done... If the guy raises the price to $1.99 he would still make the same amount.

Buying into an existing APP would certainly be the easier way to go. I am not sure what the development costs would be, but I know for a fact that a free existing APP is cheaper.
Beyond this, while "Wendler's 531" might be a registered trademark, I'm not sure that one can patent percentage systems or mathematical formulas, so it would be interesting to see what happened if he changed the APP to a 531 formula generator. This APP is now called BIG LIFTS..
It's a great APP with new updates all the time. It now has 5/3/1 and Starting Strength in it as well.
