Thats an opinion, not a fact. It's an opinion I do not really support.
I used to skydive but I never competed. Did that mean I was not a skydiver?

More of the same blathering. I'm not discounting that cometition can be fun, but it is not a requirement.

Look, if you want to compete, great! Go have fun, and do your best. If you choose not to compete, you can still be just as serious a lifter as those that have chosen to get on the stage.

No GL, Powerlifting is a sport defined by a number of parameters, one of which entails competing at a sanctioned Meet.

If you do not, you're not a Powerlifter. That is a fact.

I've competed since 2001. I've taken the time to travel to dozens of competitions out of my own pocket. Bought the equipment, peaked, dieted, trained in strange places.

What have you done? Where have you competed? When have you taken from your pocket to travel and compete just because you love it? When have you lifted ALL day because the competition calls for it? When have YOUR lifts come down to what the judges say on the day?

Nowhere, absolutely ****ing nowhere have you done that. Yet you sit in your chair behind your keyboard saying it's all the same.

What a load of bullshit.

Whatever, don't come into this thread and put down the accomplishments of people who do actually compete by trying to make out it's the same thing as your gym lifting. It's not.

You come into this with your patronising bullshit, find stuff "amusing", then it's "family stuff" going on. If you got so much family stuff going on then deal with it and **** off out of this thread you poser.

Truth.

Some people can handle it the first time, some people can't. It's a good reason to start competing earlier. A competition is much more difficult than gym lifting, and you may need to compete several times to iron out the details.

I think the point of this article was...if you're thinking about competing, don't wait. Start now. That's really why I posted this, and I hope anyone who has an interest in the sport will consider his advice.

I tell people interested in bodybuilding the same thing. Start competing.
