I guess I'll include myself as an example.
I'm 29 years old, my height is 5'6", currently weigh ~170-175, have a bodyfat percentage of 8-9, and compete in the 165lb weight class as a raw powerlifter in multiple federations. I achieved my first elite total this past March (1270) and then again in June (1295). My best lifts, all from that latest meet in June, are 460 squat, 265 bench press (paused), and 570 deadlift. My squat, deadlift, and total are nationally-ranked on PowerliftingWatch.com Before the recent success in powerlifting, I acquired a ridiculous amount of notoriety and infamy on the interwebz around 2004-2006 because my form was utterly horrid. Here's two of my old videos from around 2004: Before I began lifting, I was around 105lbs as a sophomore in high school. I don't have any lifting videos from those years, but the only lift that I remember doing consistently was the deadlift, and I got up to around 300 or 305 @ 115-120lbs. Here's my 1295 @ 165:

What I can tell you is that you can let your current body type drive you or you can ignore it and become the monster you want to be. You genetics are not in your control. Your diet, training, and recovery are. I first started lifting after I had come off of a tendon tear in my foot. I was a young SGT in the army before my injury. I was 6'2" and a fairly lean 220lbs. After 18 months of no exercise I was 292lbs of chewed bubble gum. I had no idea what eating right was prior to my injury. I had always relied on my PT program to keep me in good shape. I now had to do something about it. I started to read about dieting and weight training. I fell in love with powerlifting and strongman. I only touched weight a few times in my life until I was almost 28 years old. Soem of my workouts where embarassing at my size, weight, and age. I did not let that discourage me and neither should you.
There are guys everywhere who havent let anything get in their way and have accomplished their goals. you have to have the drive to do it. Ask some of those huge guys how long they have been at it. Almost everyone starts out with tiny weights in their life. I know I did and I am not ashamed to admit it. Here is a perfect example of a guy who was tiny and through hard work and dedication has made himself into a LW pro strongman. Other names to look for: Lamar Gant, Justin Blake, Casey Day, many, many more.
