This sort of reminds me of Eddie the Eagle (the british Olympic ski jumper) who was laughed at until they realised that he'd had no training whatsoever and provided his own airfare and such, the other countries' athletes then rallied around and gave him skis, gloves etc.

While I agree that oly lifting is a very underrated sport in the US and I agree that the current mainstream ideal of beauty is skewed in a bad way toward tanorexic whores and both of those things conribute to her less-than-ideal situation, she certainly could make some choices that would better her situation, which BTW is not "poverty." She could take advantage of the OTC dorms or go pro/semi-pro in a related sport like PL or strongwoman.
