Real training is starting to get more popular. Deadlift and squats (however badly performed) are now becoming commonplace instead of crazy-looking relics of days gone by. We just got in a thick bar, second power rack, etc.

So it's a good change, in my case.

I am seeing posters for Crossfit classes at local Gold's gyms. Crossfit seems to be eating the universe.

Matter eater.

I don't know. I find Crossfit rather intriguing. Not that I'm capable anymore of ever doing it, but a younger me probably would have eaten it up. Besides, some of those chicks are HOT!!!

I think CrossFit is a good thing. At least they are getting fit, getting stronger, and reaching their goals. Might not be the same goals as mine, but who cares. And I agree, some of the women are very attractive and fit looking.

I agree. Their goals are different and they progressively work towards it and that has my respect. Besides, crossfit chicks overhead squatting 135 lbs is still awesome.

1/4 squats and trap bar deadlifts with 10# bumper plates are becoming more and more popular. Foam rolling too. The personal trainers seem to watch what I do, then teach their clients to do a crappy version that uses almost no weight so as not to risk results.

And when did they start making Trap Bars with 6" raised handles? Full range not acceptable any more?

I like crossfit, but I do not think it is really anything new. It just has a new popular name. When you look back people always did things like cross fit. They just called in their conditioning or circuit training.

Someone just put a popular name to it. I know when I was in highschool at an athletic facility most of our lifting was done in a "crossfit" style but we just called in circuit training. You bunch up a few exercises and do them in rounds. Nothing special there.
