Default Goal and Competition Check In

Ok, so midway through the year. Each of us set goals at the beginning on the year. Time to reassess your goals, set new ones, and hone in on your next competition.

What are you goals for end of year 2012?

At my meet at the end of November I want to do the following:

Squat 275kgs
Bench 200kgs
Deadlift 250kgs

That would get me a 725kgs total and qualify me for Nationals next year.

This will be in the 93kgs weightclass.

My goals are still
  • Squat: 300kg
  • Bench: 200kg
  • Deadlift: 300kg
  • 90-93kg equipped class.

So far I've made a 275kg reverse band Squat. I know I can squat that weight as long as I can walk it out. I've done 3 board presses with 210kg+ and reverse band slingshot work with 190kg. Deadlift has been upto 282kg with reverse band geared work. Bodyweight is slowly moving down as well, while strength continues to climb..

All in all I'm happy with the direction it's going. With some tighter gear I know I'll make it.

Not sure when I will compete next, my training time might be restricted in the autumn (fall) so we'll have to see.

So my goals were:

650kgs total raw at nationals in April and then learn gear and move towards the same numbers as Fazc: 300/200/300. All at 100kgs BW.

And now 275/200/250 @93kgs.

Hurt my knee and didn't do Raw nationals. Have realigned my goals in line with how difficult learning the gear has been so far and the fact that I'm still pulling raw. My goals are already longer term than this though. November is a qualifier for Nationals next year. All I need is 705kgs @93kgs. Nationals the following year is where I plan on going all out.

That's not a lot to want right!?!

The above goals still stand for 2012.

When I posted this my numbers were
Deadlift 190kg
Squat 160kg
Paused bench 130kg

At the moment I am roughly at

Made no progress on bench and press but not too worried as the focus at the moment for me is on my weak squat and deadlift,

Plan is to continue with Smolov for the next 7 weeks and see where that takes my 1RM on squat, hopefully ill have a bit of carryover on the DL too

After that the focus will switch to DL and Bench as that is my next competition (push pull champs), its on in November , so ideally id like to have at the very minimum my year end goal numbers above for that meet.

Thanks for posting that thread Fazc. Will add it to the initial post for reference.

Here were my goals for 2012:

Presses are lagging. I did move up to 382.5 on bench but am far behind.

I actually hit my deadlift goal and I'm knocking on my squat goal. However, I haven't made any progress on the press goal and my bench has actually regressed. So, a combination of good and bad for me.

Well, I now have a routine up and running, after having one of those "this isn't my goal any more" moments, which led me to alter the routine as well; so, I guess I hit that goal. Happy with the routine I'm currently running and will just be assessing my response to it adn adjusting as necessary.

Not sure I'll get a 100kg DL by the end of the year but just looking to up the poundage in general and was intending doing a DL check tomorrow, so this thread is timely.
