After reading a little about it, I'd be inclined to err on the side of slightly cooler water due to heat shrinkage. I also read where people air-dry the bench shirts, by laying them flat, as well as those that use very low heat on the tumble dryer...personally, I reckon I'd choose the former option. If laying it flat, I don't know whether placing some very small object inside between the two sides of the shirt, to effectively open it up to allow airflow, would be a sensible idea as well; something that wouldn't interact with or indent the material etc. It's a thought, and I suppose it would dry slightly quicker that way.

Thanks Babs. I plan on giving this a go this week. Will err on the side of caution with a 30/40 degree wash and will air dry on a hanger. Got a reply on Twitter (from a guy who I think is big Bwys from here) and he said he washes his gear after every session in regular soap and it's fine so I'm hopeful.

So I washed my suit at 30degrees with my regular washing powder (Surcare which is a natural detergent with no artificial scents, etc) and it came out well. It's a little tighter and smells fresh as a daisy. Good times.
Gonna do my shirt as well before getting back into it next week. LtL |

people was their gear? I do mine every few months haha! I typically just soak it in the sink. If its really bad ill was it on cool in the washing machine and air dry it.
