Good point. The difference between a top natural bodybuilder and a top IFBB bodybuilder can be over 80 pounds. The difference between a top natty deadlifter and top enhanced deadlifter isn't quite that dramatic.

That's because Bodybuilders train muscles, and Strength Athletes train the central nervous system with some bodybuilding like stuff thrown in there for injury prevention.

Yeah, from what I've seen of guys I've trained with they make a massive difference in strength as well as mass.

Steroids, usually lead to people being stronger than average.

Steroids + Good training, leads to people starting to look and lift very freaky.

Steroids + Good training + Good genetics, and you're looking at the upper echelons of performance.

While it may be chemically possible to keep engineering size bigger and bigger, strength numbers have not grown along a similar curve. This would indicate a 2 possible conclusions:

1) The body is far more willing to add size due to chemical enhancement than it is willing to add strength.

2) The strength training community is behind the "chemical curve".

I doubt #2 is the issue, but am merely speculating.

Regarding strength, there are more issues at play than growing muscle size. There are many other limiting factors...CNS, connective tissue strength, form, leverages, etc.

Just my 2 cents. I reserve the right to be wrong.

I'm speaking from personal experience. I know who isn't, and I know about what they deadlift, on average.

I find it amusing that someone who never used steroids is acting like an authority on the subject, along with throwing out mostly arbitrary percentages.

to say they don't help strength is absurb.....

Look at DW (i assume he is natty)..pretty ridiculous squat/pull for his weight, but then look at the world records: 672/485/714.

Can he hit those numbers being natty?
