Default What is the reason?

What is the reason for having a protein shake during a workout?

Because people get crazy OCD about proper nutrient timing.
I wouldn't worry much about it as long as your meals are giving you enough energy to get through your workouts, and giving you enough recovery and progression between workouts.

its a convenient time to get some more protein. Its also easier to get down, I usually can't stomach anything solid for a good 30 minutes after I lift, but am really hungry, so it helps there.
