No idea. Most people mean eating like a bird and not making any gains. My take on it is:
1. Refrain from highly processed foods. 2. Eat a variety of veggies (corn and potatoes are not vegetables) 3. MEAT 4. more meat 5. Goes back to 1, but there are very few reasons to eat white bread, sugar, or margarine. The idea of a clean diet is to be healthy. Choose healthy foods over crappy alternatives. Choose grilled corn on the cob over doritos. Eat a steak instead of bologna.

Eating wholesome foods instead of fast food and heavily processed foods. Basically; fresh fruit, veggies, meat, cheese, eggs, milk, wholemeal bread etc.

To me its a mixed bag.
Those in which have followed the paleo diet, for most of their lives, have lived to average age, over average age, and younger than average age, but they still swear by its unique set of evidence. Even food stuffs in which are approved within paleo, many are not naturally grown, or grown in which it was meant to, which again, muddys the water. Others still, in which are fat and over weight, and eat anything and everything, have lived to average age, over average age, and younger than average age. And, still others, in which watch their diet close, are relatively in shape, and weight/height proportionate, have lived to average age, over average age, and younger than average age. And, we go on, still others, in which watch their diet are power lifters, bodybuilders, etc, etc, have lived to average age, over average age, and younger than average age. The only common denominator in which trumps all in the above, is genetics and heredity, in this we do not know in which cards we were dealt, and how this effects an individuals tolerance toward food consumption, stress (etc), and exercise (weight training, etc). In all this, we have the FDA, and government, muddying the water. In my opinion, study and educate yourself, and use a lot of common sense, and keep your BS flag up.

i eat clean and i eat fats. i dont eat fruit when i cut fat and i barely eat veggies. theres plenty of ways to eat clean...You're kinda missing the point of "clean" eating. @smalldon. youre an ectomorph with a fast metabolism. if you wanna add muscle, like youre other posts seem to imply, dont worry about eating clean. youre body will just speed through clean food. Eat calorie dense noms. you're going to have a hard time eating enough calories with clean food to add mass.
