Sugar free hard candy. I like Crystal Light fruit drops. Only a few calories from sugar alcohols, and taste pretty good.

Have a cheat meal--eat what you want once a week. It is good for long-term compliance and it won't hurt you in the long run (it will actually help). Knowing you only have to wait a week to eat your favorite food is MUCH easier than trying to avoid it for months on end.

I get terrible cravings for high carb foods that are clearly bad for me. If I was craving fresh home made bread, potatoes, and a big steak, it would be one thing. (Damn that sounds good though. and broccoli. I love broccoli) But no, I freak out over nachos and pizza and a cookie sheet full of tacos. The only way for me to get them under control is to cut out all refined foods and drop my carbs to below 30g a day for a couple weeks. After that, my body and mind behave themselves.
