Default Oxygen

I've always thought oxygen supplementation was a great idea since I saw Matt LaMarque using O2 between lifts at a WABDL Worlds meet in 2004. NFL players do it all the time. Only $10 bottle and it's got 50 doses in it. I figure a powerlifter will go through a bottle every 4-5 training sessions.

Interesting... How is this used? Sniff a whiff before each set, or a one time thing pre-workout?

I should probably read the site more, but I'm about to logoff work computer to hit the gym, but will read more tonight..

I know some MMA fighters have used it and it is banned by most athletic commissions.
I know I could sure as hell use it during a squat session!!!!

You just squirt a 1 second burst toward your mouth as you take a deep breath. There is a short video deminstration on the website.

I have been told that the International Olympic Commission has approved it. If they allow it, I assume anyone would. It's just natural oxygen. It can't make you fail any drug tests. I'm sure no powerlifting feds ban it.

It won't make you stronger. It will allow you to recover more quickly, which will allow for more reps/set or more sets, that will make you stronger in the long run.

Yeah, I guess what I said came off wrong. It is banned by most athletic commsions for MMA events because they say it gives fighters an unfair advantage during the fight. Which makes sense to me.
Other than that I didn't know everyone elses stance on it. I wasn't trying to say it was cheating or anything like that.
The concept makes sense to me and I personally wouldn't be opposed to trying it it out. It's no different that any other pre workout or intra workout supplementation, ethically speaking.

I checked and found out the World Anti-doping Agency authorized the use of Oxygen supplementation as of Jan. 01, 2010. I've used it twice now and I think it's the real deal. Definately helps keep me from being "gassed" after sets. I think that a bottle will only last a powerlifter about 2-3 training sessions though....taken as directed.

It will Definately be a BIG help at a meet, where you are only allowed a limited time to recover after a lift. When the bar is loaded for you...you have to lift, ready or not.
