Macronutrients, as the name implies, are those nutrients that you require in relatively large quantities in order to be healthy. They can be contrasted with micronutrients which are required in tiny quantities - fractions of a gramme per day.
Macronutrients are essentially carbohydrates, fats and proteins. I'm not sure if you would count fibre in there as you don't really derive much nutritive value from it, though it is essential for health.
