It really all depends on your goals, I am trying to keep fat gain to a minimum while gaining weight so on my cardio/off days I eat less.

My general rule of thunb is; high protein and low carb on off days, and high carb and moderate protein on workout days. Calories stay pretty consistant.

Yes, eat more when you lift whether or not you're dieting. The rest depends on you and your goals. If you're young and growing, I wouldn't pay much attention to macros. Just eat and eat reasonably. (Coming from the guy who just ate a whole pizza)

Cut and dry YES, when trying to make gains over cutting, the general rule is more energy exerted the more cals in the form of good fats or carbs.
Many do the carbs but I know a few that have had great success with good fats. Pro bodybuilder and trainer Eric Broser is big on high fats pre workout. I'm a old fart and odd ball. I like doing my higher cal (carbs and fats ) on off days when the body is healing and recovering. I have only played with this idea for this the last year or so and have been having good results. I keep my protein the same every day based on my Lean Body Mass not scale weight.
