Default Protein - Bro Nonsense

Someone trying to debate me. Small rant attached for entertainment value.

Quote:
Your body only requires so much protein.
Weak generalization. I am sick of the nonsense that anything above 150 grams per day is pointless for everyone, at all times.

A) Some folks are underweight and may require more for building purposes.
B) Some folks need 4 billion calories a day to gain, and telling them to limit protein is idiotic. Only eat 150 grams of protein, but go ahead and eat 700 daily grams of carbs. That's ok!
C) Some folks may benefit from greater protein intake while cutting fat and training for strength and muscle retention.
D) Some folks train really, really, really hard and might need more.

Key word...some. Not all.

Quote:
If you obtain more than your body needs than it will turn in to fat.
Yes, because calorie intake doesn't matter...

Yes, because eating 700 grams of carbs per day is balanced, and would never lead to fat gains...

Amazing how I flourished on a 250g fat 300g protein, 20g carb diet for so long. I guess my body hadn't read the latest articles...

I've been north of 270g of protein a day since the fall of 2010 and north of 300 for at least the last 6 months.

Doesn't seem to be turning into fat to me. Horror of horrors!

It drives me nuts when people whip out the blanket statement:

Never eat more than 150 grams.

I want to slap them with a steak, and then make them squat with me. When we're done, they will run outside and start chasing the local wild life, looking for protein.

When I train with Rich I don't go to the grocery store, I head into the fields to start chewing on cows.

Now, now. I'm sure 150g of protein is a great amount of protein for someone who weighs about 110 pounds.

Let them train with Rich Knapp. They'll beg for more

Yep cos 700 grams of carbs does not contain 2800 calories and it is protein that makes you fat. Anyone who thinks 150g protein is enough obviously is not training anywhere near their max potential.

I understand the big supplement companies made up this fear to take our money schtick as it might apply to certain supplements, but telling someone to take in more daily protein is not exactly on par with the claim HMB will add 10 pounds of muscle mass! (or whatever is said...)
