Bacon
Love my bacon. What I want to know is is turkey bacon really that much healthier for me than my regular bacon?
|
Turkey bacon has fewer calories and grams of fat. So if that is what you're after, it's healthier.
I'd rather eat bacon and cut back elsewhere. http://www.fremont.k12.ca.us/cms/lib...muscle_pig.gif |
However turkey bacon tastes like well i just wont go there.

Bacon is possibly the greatest food on earth. Never substitute. Use it in all recipes you can fit it without being gross...like no bacon cereal or something like that.
One of the best recipes with bacon is: Take bacon, cook, eat, repeat. Another is make bacon, about 1Lb and keep the grease aside as it collects. Eat bacon. Then take the grease in a large cookpot, heat it up until it is warm, add 2 cups popping corn kernels. Cover, increase heat to medium/high, let it pop for a few minutes. Add a bit of salt, shake. Fall in love with the best popcorn, ever. Ever, the best, ever. That is all. :march: |

We had bacon flavoured button mushrooms the other day, cooked in the same pan as the bacon, awesome. |
If I had a boy it's name would be Bacon.

Another little extra for the popcorn recipe.......
Take the 1Lb of bacon you cooked to make the popcorn, and crumble it to bits, mix with grated chedder cheese, and mix with and shake up in the popcorn. mmmm...bacon cheese popcorn.. do want, right nao! |
I usually use part of the bacon grease left over to cook my eggs in the morning. The rest I save for flavoring beans, greasing pans for casseroles, and other stuff like that.
And now ricka has me thinking about ditching the popcorn and just doing bacon and cheese! |
I love using bacon grease for my green beans. Add a few strips of bacon to it, and some onion and the green beans and you have a great dish.
