Default Pepper

I do not use salt on my foods as I am worried about sodium. I use a lot of pepper though. Is this bad for me?

Actually, I think I heard that pepper has some antioxidents in it.

You have a heart condition that you cut sodium?

Other wise its very important in the support of muscle contractions and nerve transmissions.
As far as pepper.

I agree, too many people are overly concerning themselves with sodium and fats.

@ jack3d- Admittedly, though, there is natural sodium even in basic foods; once you start training, however, that may not be enough and extra may be needed.

Pepper is an antioxidant so therefore it should not harm you.

The only case I'm aware of when black pepper is contra-indicated is when an individual has issues with kidney stones and has a higher than normal level of oxalate in their blood. Calcium oxalate is a primary building block of the stones and some renal specialists believe eating fewer oxalate containing foods will help.

As to salt and sodium, how much are you getting on a daily basis? Without Na+ the body cannot trigger the depolarization of nerves and muscle contraction in balance with Ca++ and K+

I use lots of pepper. I love the taste of it. It is a good source of antioxidants.
