I've been dealing with high blood pressure since I was 17 (hereditary). Sounds way to simple, but just eat healthy. Avoid processed food and high sodium. Drink a ton of water throughout the day. Eat your fruits and veggies... and a lot of them. Getting potassium levels up seems to help. Fish oil, magnesium and vitamin D3 have seemed to help me.
Also take a look at lifestyle... your on this board so you lift... but also do some walking, running, biking, etc. Avoid negitive/stressful situations and people. Get your 8 hours of sleep. Etc... |

How high is your blood pressure? Mine has ranged up into 240/190 and currently rests at 110/67. The VERY high readings were from when I had an auto-immune disease drop kicking my kidneys. The kidneys play an active role in blood pressure, releasing ADH in varying quantities to rid the body of excess water.
If water isnt the cause of high blood pressure, chances are that its constricted arterioles. These are smaller than arteries and dilate/contract more as well. Some people are prone to constriction, and others find that heavy doses of stimulants will constrict them as well. Have you 1. Changed your diet - reduce refined, pre-packaged food. Some salt is good, but the crap in cans is dangerous. 2. Increased your activity - cardio is actually good for more than dropping some fat 3. Dropped some fat - excess fat can impede blood flow 4. Been prescribed any medication - ACE inhibitors work with the kidneys and lungs to remove more water, while others actually will limit the heart rate/contraction strength. Be sure to ask your Dr. how the medication actually works. If they won't tell you, get a new doctor.
