Default 6 meals per day - what snacks do u eat?

hey.
so we all know that eating 6 meals or 6 times per day is optimum for improving your metabolism.

I'm used to eating 3 meals per day, but for the other 3 meals, what do you guys eat, or suggest that I can eat? Is it really supposed to be 3 other meals, or can it be snacks - and if so, what snacks?

My suggestion is to eat your 3 main meals and snack in between like most humans, but do so with high protein foods like whey or Greek yogurt (or something higher in protein) and almonds and/or fruit.

Eat whatever best appeals to you for that time of day.

I am not a fan of chicken breasts and rice 6 times a day. That's really not needed.

If I'm having a snack, the size of it depends on how much I feel like at the time but for the smaller snacks: almonds, pistachios, apple, banana, toast with peanut butter, celery with peanut butter.

Others base their snacks on the macros for the day, so you may get totally different ideas from those above; my diet plan just involves eating.

Broscience.

Don't sweat the small stuff. Overall calories and protein are far more important than ensuring you get 6 evenly spaced out meals per day.

More important than that is actually busting your ass in the gym, if more people did that diet wouldn't be discussed as much.

This is a completely false statement. I would recommend following BTB's post.

That's true; I've eaten as many as 10 meals/snacks a day, whereas at other times I've eaten 4-5 meals...during the same period of training.

Number of meals: irrelevant
Number of calories: relevant

Word.

That's one thing I never really sweated over. At the moment I eat 3 big square meals and another smaller bedtime snack. That keeps me at about 3500 or so calories which is just fine for me.

I just could not bring myself to eat 6 meals of just 600 calories, a 600 calorie meal just sounds ridiculous to me. I'm pretty sure that would decrease my testosterone levels if for no other reason than I would just feel like a wuss delicately balancing out 600 calories 6 times a day.

For some people, frequent feeding works. For others, it doesn't. It all comes down to personal preferrence.

Just for educational purposes, eating more frequently will do nothing to "boost" or "slow" your metabolism. And metabolic function does not change as easily as many are mislead to believe.

Yeah, for me, sometimes I'll find myself eating about 2,000 cals at a meal and other times I just don't want a huge meal so it gets staggered out a bit more over the day; I don't really calorie count either but have done a few times just to get an idea of what I am eating throughout the day.

It has been suggested for people that are prone to overeat that it is better for them NOT to eat as frequently as 6 meals because that then reinforces the problem. So, for some, there are good reasons to stick to less meals as long as they can get the required nutrients in.
